三、教學目標 Objectives

Grading Description
出席 10% Exams, group discussions, roll calls (starts at 13:10 am), or in-class activities will be used as your attendance records. Each student is exempt from one absence. You will be assessed 3 points against your final grade for each additional unexcused absence. You will be assessed 1 point against your final grade for each absent hour. Depending on the circumstances, sick leaves without diagnosis statements or medical receipts will be treated as unexcused absences. You will not pass this class if you are absent for more than 6 hours.
平時作業 30%Individual Assignment I (10%) (Due on 4/1 @ 9:00AM)
Please find management-related articles from any reliable sources (e.g., magazine articles, videos, books) and write a report to reflect what you have learned from it.
The report must contain the following information: Introduction of the article, the relevance of the article to the chapter(s) in our course, and your reflection after reading/seeing the article.

Individual Assignment II (10%) (Due on 4/22 @ 9:00AM)
Consider the material from Ch. 3 (Understanding Individual Differences), Ch. 6 (Developing Teamwork Skills), and Ch. 17 (Job Search and Career Management Skills). Please write a one-page essay about those aspects of your personality, skills, abilities, and “character” that you believe are and have been most influential in helping you get ahead in life (both in the past and the future). In other words, what personal attributes or qualities do you value highly and believe have and will make you more effective in obtaining your goals?

Individual Assignment III (10%) (Due on 6/3 @ 9:00AM)
1. Consider the material from Ch. 10 (Becoming an Effective Leader) and Ch. 13 (Positive Political Skills); please write a one-page essay indicating how you see yourself concerning each attribute described in the chapter. Rate yourself on those dimensions on a 1-5 scale, where one means you possess little of the attribute, and five means you possess a lot of it.
2. Compare the essays from Individual Assignments II and III. What do they suggest you develop to possess more power and influence? What are your plans to develop those personal qualities and dimensions of yourself?
隨堂考 30%There will be 6 English quizzes. Each quiz includes about 10 multiple-choice questions and one short-answer question. The lowest score on the quiz will be automatically excluded from your final quiz grade. No make-up quizzes will be offered.
分組作業 30%You will be divided into groups of four to five members. Your group’s task is to use the concepts from the course to identify, analyze, and develop a plan or list of recommendations for resolving a critical problem that an organization is facing.
•Group formation and process: In the first week, you will fill out preference forms in class, and the instructor will announce groups during the following week. Each group will be responsible for finding an organization to study using interviews, observations, and surveys. The organization can be a business, extracurricular club, athletic team, or other social collectives in Taipei. During class in the fifth week, each group will announce the organization that it will study. The instructor recommends starting the project earlier so you have enough time to collect data and write your report.
• Report guidelines: The report should answer the following questions using data from your interviews, observations, or surveys to support each answer:
1) What is the nature of the problem?
2) What are the causes of the problem?
3) How can managerial psychology concepts be applied and extended to solve the problem?
4) What specific action steps should the organization take to solve the problem? What changes should be implemented?
5) What are the potential barriers, obstacles, and challenges to following your recommendations?
6) What are the risks, costs, and possible unintended consequences of following your recommendations?
7) How will you communicate your findings to your clients and overcome potential resistance?
The report should be double-spaced in 12-point Times New Roman font with 1” margins around it. The minimum length is 15 pages, and the maximum length is 20 pages. You should include a one-page executive summary before the introduction and a letter of approval from a representative of your client organization. Throughout the report, feel free to use specific references to course readings and lectures to add credence to your diagnoses and recommendations. The report is due on 6/17 @ 9:00 AM.

Assessment Criteria: Your group assignment will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
1.Depth of understanding of the chosen organization and managerial psychology concept.
2.Ability to apply theoretical knowledge to a real-world example.
3.Clarity, organization, and coherence of the presentation.
4.Effective use of visuals and supporting materials.
5.Each group member’s contribution to the presentation and overall teamwork.
