三、教學目標 Objectives
本課程是對語言科學研究的介紹。我們將討論語言的性質,學習如何分析和描述語言的基本技術。我們將涉及的一些主題包括語言的發展、語言的單詞、句子模式、語言的含義和聲音、語言的獲得、社會中的語言和語言的變化等。
1、介紹語言學包含的內容。
2、提高學生對語言知識的認知。
3、培養學生對語言分析的興趣與技能。
This course is an introduction to the scientific study of language. We will cover two main topics: (1) the concepts and tools necessary to give a scientific description of a human language, and (2) the interface between language and psychology, sociology, and technology. Students will learn how to analyze the phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics of a language, and also the basics of psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics, and natural language processing.

3. To develop students' interest and skills in language analysis.
四、課程內容 Course Description
整體敘述 Overall Description
This course is intended for all students interested in language science, cognitive science, languages, communications, and related fields.
Discussion sections are synchronous and attendance is required in order to receive full credit. Discussion section time will be spent on guided exercises.
Homework will consist of short problem sets.

You are encouraged to work together with classmates to solve the problem.
In general, the 150-minute class period will be divided into the following activities:
Summary of the reading presentation 2. Q & A Discussion 3. Minds-on and/or heads-on activities
Students need to Bring Your Own Technology (BYOT).
Students will be expected to attend our weekly meetings.
Active participation in these course meetings is required.
Students are expected to deliver a reading presentation on one of the course readings.
Students are expected to come out a project related to the theme of the course.
