三、教學目標 Objectives
Attain confidence and command of basic speaking and communication skills.
Develop understanding of international, particularly North American, logical speaking and presentation styles.
Enhance listening and speaking fluency.
Develop cooperative learning and cooperative communication skills.
Develop students ability to engage in critical thinking.
Learn how to take notes, listen intelligently, make insightful analysis of others' presentations, and ask cogent critical questions.
　
四、課程內容 Course Description
●整體敘述 Overall Description
In this class, students will learn a number of skills necessary for logical presentation of ideas; learn and master basic points of the communication cycle; learn how to take notes on and analyze a speaker's discourse, and how to ask questions; Attain confidence and command of basic speaking and communication skills. During the term, students will have 4 presentations and 4 critical listening assignments. There will also be a number of discussion roundtables on a variety of current issue topics.

五、考評及成績核算方式 Grading

平時作業 100%Four presentations (20% each); Attendance/participation 20%.3 late/absent days are allowed. After the third, 3 points will be deducted from your grade for each additional late/absent day. Those who fail to sign the sign-in sheet before it is picked up will be considered late/absent for that day.
Participation is graded based on your activity on days you do not present. The 20% for participation is earned through asking questions and discussing the topics that your classmates present.
